Machine Learning is basically training your program to make decisions or predictions on its own. It needs training data in order to do so.
One of the best way to teach kids is by using examples.
Let’s start from SCRATCH! It’s one of the best programming platform created for kids. It’s easy and fun way to code.
Python is one of the most friendly language for kids. Lot of free hands on tutorials and user friendly free IDEs like VsCode, PyCharm makes it simpler and more entertaining platform than many others.
An early start on Machine Learning will provide kids with more fun way to interact to programming.
Machinelearningforkids.co.uk is a good place to start with ML. For Image based projects, we don’t need to create account on IBM Cloud.
Here are few quick steps to start:
- Start new project and provide a name and description to that.
- You can share it with others to collaborate.
- Provide multiple image samples for the recognition and train your model.
- Test your model by checking it against the other images. Here it shows the accuracy of your model. If it works, go ahead and write your program using Scratch or Python.
I tried this with 5th graders and they really liked working with it.
